Telemetry wasn't really added until 8, and by the release of 10, backported to 7. I highly doubt there's anything going on in XP. Few people were actually connected to the internet at the time (especially in the early days of XP around SP1, which is this leak) and hardware back then sucked ass, so telemetry would slow the system to the point of not even working, which would be terrible for M$ since computers were mostly used by businesses.
TL;DR probably no telemetry.

The list of threads in OP has descriptions of what occurred in each thread. You have to scroll down a bit, but it's there.
>>
>>78678950
Well, i think it was bad idea to specify "these threads", I mean on the interwebs in general to regards to the leaks. Like, a lot of work and tinkering also done outside of this little shithole, in other communities, and some of you probably keep tabs on new discoveries.

Basically some well-rounded summary would be super-nice and I'm fairly sure not just me would appreciate it.
>>
>>78678941
As I said, 7 didn't get telemetry until an update around 2018. Windows 8 wasn't even that bad, either. Windows 10 had already been out for a few years by then. I doubt there's anything particularly fishy in XPSP1. Every version of Windows Professional has the option to disable telemetry, so it'd be even less likely for Server 2003 to be doing anything spooky.

I appreciate that. I'm the dude with M-Disc archive for the post-apo times, so if you get everything in one place, I'll happily archive it.
>>
>>78679613
>Offtopic but just wondering, are you archiving stuff besides the XP leaks too?
I have some cool hubble photos, a few games I used to play, but I'm not a hoarding freak yet.
I planned to make a full GNU/Linux archive with useful programs, source code and compilers.
I like the idea of protecting humanity's knowledge.
My motivation behind archiving OpenXP was to save the work you've done from bit rot, because that's the only thing I can do for the project - I can't code in C/C++.
The system is proprietary today, but copyright will expire one day and we can't trust corporations to archive it for us.

Are you retarded? This license is not valid by law in every way because the code is Microsoft's property.

Kinda. In future this may help... I have included it just for fun purposes and it is written for helping completing the documentation. I just saw
>This Software is an unlicensed build of Microsoft Windows XP.
>The Software is based on an illeaglly acquired copy of the source code for the NT5 family of Windows operating systems.
>Under US copyright law, software source code remains the sole property of the original author. >Microsoft Corporation has NEVER freely distributed, licensed or otherwise made available
the source code for ANY edition of the Windows operating system.
>This Software should be considered stolen property.
>Your Use of the Software includes but IS NOT LIMITED TO the possession, execution, distribution and modification of the Software.
>Your Use of this Software is illegal in most Western legal jurisdictions.
Its just childish to include fucking lyrics in source code.
>>
>>78680689
Hard to imagine why you would waste time doing this. It is invalid
>>
What SKU is this? It's based on XP SP2 and XP Embedded.. but it's so bare, literally nothing installed with it..

If we can add a custom SKU (which we can with one of the scripts in the src) we could have custom build requirements for that SKU

>>
>>78680812
>Kinda.
This explains a lot, thank you.
>This Software is an unlicensed build of Microsoft Windows XP.
This is false. The software is licensed by microsoft.
>Its just childish to include fucking lyrics in source code.
You can always include a copy of "The Communist Manifesto" if you consider a song childish.

Placing a license there can cause even more legal troubles than just distributing stolen code, also it may be misleading to users of the software.
Especially telling the software is not licensed is wrong.
>>
>>78680922
no it's XP SP1 and rtm win2003. But postbuidling on SP1 I think is still failing so you can only compile win2003

>Placing a license there can cause even more legal troubles than just distributing stolen code, also it may be misleading to users of the software.
Is that not only you're distributing stolen code, but you're also scamming people into thinking the code is unlicensed/licensed not by Microsoft.
If you really want to be helpful, better write a short README explaining using the code is illegal and users do it at their own risk.
Just don't pretend you're writing a license, because that's just dumb.

Uh Guys what is this?
It looks a lot like like the Windows XP SP1/2003 source code folder.. but this one says :
"Windows 10 Technical Preview Source Tree"

https://windows-internals.com/source/files.html
>>
>>78681929
It is just an NT file structure, but it does seem interesting.. 'Cortana' 'mobilecore' and a few other 10 specifics..

Can't see any build tools though so Partial, maybe shared source code..
>>
>>78682284
I mean, I know there's still ancient shit in Windows 10, somehow you can get the OG file picker for some specific program.
>>
>>78682297
That's only because 10 is still NT, and NT is just built up upon over the years..

This could very well be some 10 source code though, looking at the website they offer seminars and stuff on Windows Internals

There is vert big hidden change, thread local storage. I believe that is the reason why visual studio has an explicit windows xp compatible tool chain. Prior to windows vista the thread local storage support only works for dlls loaded on application start, any dynamically loaded dlls do not get their thread local storage initialised.
>>
>>78685948
Implementing thread local storage correctly is very tricky. Each thread has a thread local storage array, in nt5x this is allocated on application startup and is sized sufficient for any loaded dlls that have a tls directory. Dynamically loading dlls with tls directory would cause this array to be resized, but it cannot be resized because some code somewhere may have taken a pointer to this array, so on resize the old table is leaked until the thread is destroyed. The loadLibrary code must loop over all the running threads so that each threads tls array can be expanded as needed. Vista does this using a system call. It can be done in user mode using a linked list of all the running threads, this is how wine does this, and also how it was originally designed but never implemented in windows. But TerminateThread fucks this all up, terminate thread does not cause the threads teardown code to run thus would have the linked list point into garbage.
>>
>>78686046
The original designers of NT never wanted terminateThread to even exist. Terminate thread is bad and fucks up so much, I wish it did not exist.
>>
>>78678812
Another change that was made in vista was to correctly unload dlls that where loaded by export forwarders, in nt5x dlls loaded by export forwarders can never be unloaded.

This can be the case. I believe there might be a backdoor in MSVC, this would be a wise move - infecting/tagging binaries.

I have thought about this before. I am looking for the 2005 version of the *MS Visual C++ CRT Source* which is officially released by Microsoft, but can't find it. Where can I find it?

For better Windows 10 compatibility I want to add the *_except_handler4_common* function to the MSVCRT.DLL through the source code, and want to try again with the 2005 version as the 2017 version didn't not work for me.

I found this remark with Visual Studio 2017 installation folder, regarding the part I am trying to add:

/***
*chandler4.c - Structured Exception Handling part of _except_handler4
*
* Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
*
*Purpose:
* Defines _except_handler4, the language specific handler for structured
* exception handling on x86. First created for Visual C++ 2005, replacing
* _except_handler3, with the addition of security cookie checks.
*
* For the CRT DLL, this actually defines _except_handler4_common, which
* performs the real processing for chandler4gs.c's stub routine
* _except_handler4. We need a stub that is linked statically into an
* image, so it can access the image-local global security cookie. But all
* it needs to do is pass through to this code, sending in the address of
* the global cookie and the image's __security_check_cookie routine. This
* larger routine can then be placed in the CRT DLL.
*
*******************************************************************************/

File is *C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\BuildTools\VC\Tools\MSVC\14.16.27023\crt\src\i386*

you realize that if you not support all the other TLS+EH stuff that the modern CRT have doing so it's completely a waste of time? TLS have changed in win10 and it require kernel changes. This is the reason why in vs19 you can install xp build tools. Second that handle is exported by the MS CRT (mscrt.dll) and is not insid ethe public source release of the CRT you get with the SDK:.

Can you please elaborate what are these TLS+EH things that are needed in Windows XP? I think you mean TLS v1.2, what is EH?

Yes, although it is a waste of time, the question is of theoretical interest, and it is hoped that a satisfactory solution of this problem will act as a wedge in attacking other problems of similar nature and of greater significance.

posix/os2 used to be included in NT as different subsystems, psxss for the posix one, NT4 leak has code for them, maybe could be added to our tree with a little work
afaik MS replaced it with interix tho, which being third-party code wasn't included in the XP/2003 source kit

the NT4 code has a lot of files talking about getting it POSIX compliant too, if you want to look into that

that's a good starting point, i'll take a look to the current spec and see what's missing maybe we are close to be compliant

Kenneth never released his kernel monitor code. Instead, he used tinykrnl to replace smss with, from the reactOS project.

I was part of the testers for NTOSDrop back in 2011.

Keep in mind that Kenneth (WinOCM on twitter) was just 14-15 when he was fooling around with the WRK to get NTOSDrop results. It wasn't pretty, and was FAR LESS of what has been done with this NT5.1/5.2 leak.

What you keep asking for is WRK mods, nothing that can be used for the code that we have here, as it is from a time AFTER SP1 for Server 2003. We haven't got any SP1 code -- and we know that it's a huge difference due to the fact that even Microsoft acknowledged it being one of the biggest service packs ever.

Server 2003 SP1 is comprised of backported LongHorn code, which we have none of.

Stop asking for code we don't have.

He is idiot he won't stop and if we have to work in kernel we really cannot trust 15yo boy code, and in fact he just ported from reactos as you said

Hey, I'm looking for smart people who know how reverse engineering work or who can program in C or assembly. Lets do something great together! Unfortunately I'm not going to tell you details here thanks to a lot of idiots coming around. If you done some work here and want to continue together, send me mail at "ntguy at protonmail" and write what you already did and what you can (programming, reversing, graphics)

>I can't do anything.

Let me guess, you want to tell these specialists that they will work for free for your idea?
>>
>>78708722
No, and it is not your problem, because you are one of those anons who cannot do anything but complaining and look for conspiracy theories.

We won't achieve anything until 1 anon posts systime.c file on paste service, another puts winlogon archives and we have git repository where nothing happens. We need to create community and work together.
>>
>>78708818
4chan isn't the place for that community you (and I) want, sadly I don't know anything technical like that (but I have ordered material to help me start over the coming months), all I did do the build-env-info site that people here seem to find useful but no real input.. I think most 'devs' here are either busy working or have left the threads to go to trash
>>
>>78708872
Correct. But we need to catch all those smart guys first.

You did not guess right, I am constantly sending screenshots here and asking questions and answering others

> We won't achieve anything until 1 anon posts systime.c file on paste service, another puts winlogon archives and we have git repository where nothing happens

As long as you think that someone is solving your problem or someone else's at their own expense, you will not achieve anything. You should take and help people, do something on your own, if you do not understand, then at least look at the code and find something interesting in it that will help others.
>>
>>78708913
Answering to all those morons? Hahah, no thanks. I have left a contact to me, all of you can use it and bring something to community. 4chan is wrong place to do that and I'm not going to discuss it here.

>>78709047
I see, there's nothing to talk about with you, good luck

It's seems adding Build Name generating to bz not enough to make build with diffrent build name. I guess bcz the only way for now.
